Z-TEL-A (Telmisartan Amlodipine 40mg 5mg Tablet)
Introduction
Z-Tel-A tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg & Amlodipine 5 mg.This drug is mainly used in the management of hypertension by antagonizing the action of angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. They both work differently to relax the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily.
Indications
• Hypertension
• Control the risk of cardiovascular events such as strokes
• Arterial disease
• Myocardial infarction
• Kidney problems
Dosage : The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
Mechanism of action
It blocks the actions of angiotensin II receptor which effects vasoconstriction and aldosterone secreting effects which causes its effects on patient with high blood pressure.

Rapidly absorbed. Dose dependent bioavailability 42% (after 40 mg dose)
Distribution
Protien binding: 99%. Metabolism: undergoes conjugation with glucuronic acid to form inactive metabolites
Excretion
Excreted almost entirely as unchanged drug in faeces via bile. <1% excreted via urine
Contraindication
• Never be co-administered with anti-diabetic drug
• Allergic Reactions
Precautions
• In pregnant patients
• Can cause hypotension
• Hyperkalemia
• Impaired renal function
