Telmisartan 80mg Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg Tablet

Z-TEL-H 80 is a fixed-dose combination of Telmisartan (80 mg), an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg), a thiazide diuretic. This combination is widely prescribed for the management of essential hypertension, especially in patients who require dual therapy to achieve optimal blood pressure control.

Telmisartan helps relax blood vessels by blocking the effects of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. Hydrochlorothiazide assists in lowering blood pressure further by removing excess salt and water from the body through diuresis. Together, the combination is effective, well-tolerated, and beneficial in long-term hypertension management.

Indications

Z-TEL-H 80 is indicated for:

• Essential hypertension
• Patients not adequately controlled on Telmisartan alone
• Hypertension requiring combination therapy for effective BP control

Mechanism of Action

Telmisartan (80 mg)

• Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor (AT1) antagonist.
• It blocks the binding of angiotensin II to AT1 receptors on vascular smooth muscle.
• This prevents vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion.
• As a result:
  • Blood vessels relax
  • Peripheral resistance decreases
  • Blood pressure reduces effectively

Hydrochlorothiazide (12.5 mg)

• A thiazide diuretic acting on the distal convoluted tubule of the kidneys.

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose: 1 tablet once daily, preferably at the same time each day.
• Should be taken with or without food.

Contraindications
