Linawise-5 contains Linagliptin 5 mg of linagliptin, a DPP-4 inhibitor used for effective management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It works by enhancing the body’s natural incretin hormones, which help in regulating blood glucose levels in a glucose-dependent manner.Linagliptin improves glycemic control by increasing insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion, thereby lowering both fasting and post-meal blood sugar levels.It is suitable for patients with type 2 diabetes, including those with mild to moderate renal impairment, as it does not require dose adjustment in most cases. How does Linawise-5 (linagliptin 5 mg) work?

Inhibits DPP-4 Enzyme: Linagliptin 5mg inhibits >80% of DPP-4 enzyme activity for over 24 hours.

Increases Incretins: By inhibiting the enzyme that degrades them, it increases active concentrations of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP).

Glucose-Dependent Action: These hormones (GLP-1/GIP) work on the pancreas to stimulate insulin release when blood sugar is high and suppress glucagon release, reducing liver glucose production.

Unique Characteristics: Unlike other DPP-4 inhibitors, linagliptin is primarily eliminated via non-renal routes (feces), often requiring no dose adjustment in renal impairment.
