AMLODIPINE+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+TELMISARTAN belongs to the class of anti-hypertensives and is primarily taken for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery wall is high. As a result, it leads to heart diseases, irregular heartbeat, and other complications. Oedema may occur in case of high blood pressure where fluids of the body get trapped in the tissues of the hands, arms, feet, ankles, and legs leading to its swelling.

AMLODIPINE+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+TELMISARTAN is a combination of Telmisartan, Amlodipine, and Hydrochlorothiazide which are antihypertensive medicines. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker and works by blocking the action of certain substances that are responsible for tightening the blood vessels. It allows the blood to flow more smoothly and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body.  Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker and works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic and its function is to remove extra water and certain electrolytes from the body through urine. AMLODIPINE+HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+TELMISARTAN helps to lower high blood pressure thus reducing the chances of future heart attack and stroke.

Composition

This medicine contains a combination of three antihypertensive agents:

  • Telmisartan

  • Amlodipine

  • Hydrochlorothiazide

How It Works

Each component works through a distinct mechanism to lower blood pressure:

  • Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It prevents blood vessels from narrowing by blocking the action of angiotensin II, allowing blood to flow more easily and reducing strain on the heart.

  • Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by preventing calcium from entering the smooth muscle cells of the heart and arteries, which helps reduce blood pressure and improve blood flow.

  • Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill). It helps remove excess salt, water, and certain electrolytes from the body through urine, reducing fluid overload and swelling.

Together, these medicines provide comprehensive blood pressure control, reduce fluid retention, and lower the risk of cardiovascular complications.
