Z-VIL-M FORTE (ildaglip n e ormin 50mg 1000 mg Tablet)

Z-VIL-M FORTE is composed of Vildagliptin 50mg and Metformin 1000mg. Vildagliptin is a DPP-4 inhibitor, increases the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreases the hormones that raise blood sugar levels.  Metformin is belongs to biguanide classification of drugs.  It lowers glucose production in the liver, delays its absorption from intestines and increases the body's sensitivity to insulin. This combination helps in maintaining both fasting and post meal sugar levels. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.
•    Type 2 diabetes Mellitus
•     Maintains the blood sugar level
  Mechanism of action
Vildagliptin inhibits the inactivation of GLP-1 and GIP by DPP-4, which allows GLP-1 and GIP to initiate the secretion of insulin in the beta cells and suppress glucagon release by the alpha cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas. Metformin inhibits mitochondrial complex I activity responsible for its potent ant diabetic effect.
As prescribed by the physician
Vildagliptin is rapidly absorbed with an oral bioavailability of greater than 90% followed by oral administration. Metformin’s   absolute bioavailability 500 mg tablet administered in the fasting state is about 50%-60%.
Vildagliptin is minimally bound to plasma proteins (9.3%) and, on the basis of a volume of distribution of 71 L, it is considered to distribute extensively into extra vascular spaces. The mean volume of distribution (Vd) of Metformin ranged between 63-276 L.
Approximately one-quarter of a dose of vildagliptin is excreted unchanged by the kidneys, and the remainder metabolised by hydrolysis.  Renal clearance of metformin is about 3.5 times higher than creatinine clearance, which shows that renal tubular secretion is the major route of metformin elimination
