Metformin HCL & Gliclazide (Z-Glic-M)



COMPOSITION:- Metformin  Hydrochloride & Gliclazide  Tablets


Metformin  Hydrochloride( Z-Glic-M)  controlled high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems,  loss of limbs and sexual function problems . Metformin( Z-Glic –M) used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medication to control high blood  sugar . Metformin ( Z-Glic –M) lowers blood sugar . Gliclazide( Z- Glic-M)tablets are used to treat maturity  onset diabetes in patients that is not controlled by diet alone . Gliclazide( Z-Glic –M)  is one of group of medicines sulfonylureas  that are used to lowers the blood sugar levels. Gliclazide(Z-Glic-M) used when diet , exercise and weight  reduction   have not been found to control blood glucose well enough  without medications. Gliclazide(Z-Glic-M) increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas and helps the body  use insulin more efficiently. Gliclazide and Metformin(Z-Glic-M) combination used to treat high blood sugar levels are caused by a type  of diabetes mellitus or sugar diabetes called type 2 diabetes . Normally,after you eat , your pancreas releases insulin to help  your body store excess sugar for later use . This process ocurrs during normal digestion of food . In type -2 diabetes , your body does not work propERLY to store and the sugar remain in your bloodstream .


Metformin lowers the blood glucose concentration without causing hypoglycemia. Mechanism of action include decreased intestinal absorption of glucose  increased glucose uptake from the blood into the tissues, decreased glucose production in the liver and  decreased insulin requirements for glucose disposal . Metformin  slowly absorbed from the small intestine and does not undergo  hepatic metabolism .Metformin  has three different action

  1. Metformin slows the absorption of sugar in your small intestine.
  2. Metformin also stops your liver from converting stored sugar into blood sugar.
  3. Metformin helps your body use your natural insulin more efficiently.

Gliclazide works mainly by stimulating the cells in the pancreas thet produce insulin. These cells are called beta cells. Gliclazide causes the beta cells to produce more insulin which help to lower the amount of sugar in the blood . Gliclazide works by increasing the amount  of insulin that your  blood sugar level too low (Hypoglycaemia).
